Faculty Position in the Energy and Resources Group, University of California at Berkeley

The Energy and Resources Group, University of California at Berkeley, is conducting a search for either Assistant Professor (tenure-track), or Associate Professor (tenured). Depending on the availability of the selected candidate, the appointment will start as early as January 1, 2013. This position will be for a joint appointment between the Energy and Resources Group (ERG) (50%) and the Environmental Energy Technologies Division (EETD) (50%) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL); LBNL is also prepared to provide summer support. These two institutions are international leaders in exploring economic, environmental, social, technical and other issues surrounding the transformation of energy into goods and services. Our goal is to strengthen and expand the energy analysis activities of both ERG and LBNL, and to forge closer links between the two institutions.

We seek candidates who have demonstrated outstanding scholarship, teaching, and communication skills, as well as capacity to attract extramural research funding. Candidates should have publications or on-going projects in the broad area of energy systems analysis. We expect that the successful candidate will have grounding in quantitative methods, engineering, and/or policy analysis. Applications from individuals with interdisciplinary strengths, including expertise in qualitative methods and the social sciences, are encouraged. Additionally, the department is interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education through teaching, research, and service.
